The Triple Shoot passing strategy originates from the Run and Shoot offense, created by Glenn “Tiger” Ellison in 1958. Several coaches, including Darrel “Mouse” Davis and June Jones, have added their own interpretations to the system. While all offshoots of the Run and Shoot are based on the original version, one significant evolution has been the increased focus on passing rather than rushing. Coach Ellison emphasized that a successful offense should excel in both rushing and passing. Prior to the emergence of the Triple Shoot, attention mainly centered on the passing aspects of the Run and Shoot.

To establish a well-rounded offensive approach, teaching primary passing schemes in a progressive manner has been crucial for facilitating player mastery. The following links provide guidance on mastering drop back passes within the TSO:

  1. Slide
  2. Go
  3. Choice
  4. Curl
  5. Hook
  6. Outside

Once proficiency with drop back passes is achieved, transitioning to the Quick Game phase becomes essential.
